What happens to your file

WebP encodes the same picture in fewer bytes than JPEG at equal visual quality — typically 25–35% fewer. Every current browser displays it.

Older desktop software and some upload forms do not accept WebP; convert back with WebP to JPG if one refuses.

Is WebP better than JPG?

Smaller at the same quality, and it supports transparency. Compatibility outside browsers is the only reason to keep JPG.
